A fire broke out on the Natore-Naogaon regional highway with the slogan 'Joy Bangla' in Naldanga, Natore. Sensing the presence of the police, the miscreants fled the scene. Later, the police conducted a raid there and recovered various evidence including cocktails and petrol bombs.
The incident took place on the Natore-Naogaon regional highway in the Mahishmari area of Naldanga upazila at around 9 pm on Friday (January 2).
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naldanga Police Station Sakiul Azam said that a group of miscreants set fire to the road and shouted the slogan 'Joy Bangla'. At that time, when the police advanced towards the spot, they quickly fled. Later, a search was conducted and 5 cocktails, 5 petrol bombs and a banner with the picture of former Natore-2 MP Shafiqul Islam Shimul were recovered from the scene.
He further said that the recovered cocktails have been safely deactivated. Initially, it is believed that a group carried out such activities with the aim of sabotage. Legal proceedings are underway to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.
