Allegations of irregularities against DGM of Rural Electricity in Savar

There have been allegations of various irregularities and corruption against Mahbubur Rahman, Deputy General Manager of Shimultala Zonal Office of Dhaka Rural Electricity Association-3. Local residents claim that electricity connections are being provided through bribery. There have also been allegations of wasting government money in the name of maintenance and giving benefits for personal gain.
There are also allegations that DGM Mahbubur Rahman makes his own rules at different times.
There are allegations that three-phase electricity connections are being provided without solar panels in violation of the rules. A group of people from Shimultala Rural Electricity Office, including the DGM, are committing these irregularities in exchange for a large sum of money.
On the other hand, for maintenance of the electricity pole in the area under that office, the branches of the surrounding trees were cut, but even though the electricity pole 30 yards in front of his office was damaged by vines, the office officials did not pay attention to it.
A source said that the vine-covered pole is on a plot. Also, some plot owners are having problems due to the three-phase line of the pole. The plot owners have tried to move the line several times. For that, the pole has been deliberately allowed to grow forward. So that the line can be moved as desired by the plot owners on the pretext of maintenance by showing the pole as risky.
A recently retired official, who did not want to be named, said that the DGM makes different rules at different times. He commits irregularities all the time. No one in the office dares to speak out against him. He also alleged that he is committing massive corruption with single-phase meters.
When local journalists tried to talk to Mahbubur Rahman about these allegations, he gave a responsible answer and refused to comment in detail. He also said that he would have to show evidence to make news.
Local residents have demanded an investigation into these incidents and uncover the truth. Urging the concerned authorities to take immediate action, they said that if his corruption is not curbed soon, the suffering of the people will increase further.
