Four people, including two women, were injured in an attack by opponents over a land dispute in Gazipur's Sreepur. Meanwhile, the attackers detonated hand grenades and created panic in the area by practicing indigenous weapons. Both parties have filed a case in Gazipur court regarding the disputed land. The incident took place in Nagarhaola (Tarmujpara) village of Gazipur Union of Sripur Upazila on Thursday (September 19) morning.

The injured are Sahera Khatun (55), Khadija Begum (40), Sohrab (50) and Khairul Islam (35). Among them, Sahera Khatun, who was seriously injured, has been kept under treatment at Sripur Upazila Health Complex. Others received first aid from this hospital.

Locals said that Azgar Ali, the son of deceased Najum Uddin of Dhanua village, has been having a land dispute for a long time with Abdul Matin of the neighboring Nagarhaola (Tarmuzpara) village. Construction of boundary wall around the Abdul Matin land occupied by land usufructuary is in progress. Adversary Azgar Ali obstructed the construction of the boundary wall. Meanwhile, 20/25 associates led by Abdul Mateen's son Sohag attacked Azgar Ali's people with indigenous weapons. Four people including two women were injured in their attack. On receiving the information, Sreepur police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

The victim Azgar Ali said, "I am the owner of that land through my ancestors." But Abdul Mateen has taken possession of my land by force through illegal influence. When he wanted to take possession of the land from Abdul Mateen, his tenants prevented him. I want justice for this incident.

Accused Abdul Matin said that the case against the land is ongoing in Gazipur court. Before the case was settled, Azgar Ali occupied the land illegally with tenants.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreepur police station Zainal Abedin Mandal said that the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control after receiving information about the tension between the two sides due to the land dispute. In this incident, both parties accused each other and filed a written complaint at Sreepur police station. The real owner of the land can be confirmed after the police investigate the incident. He said there was no cocktail explosion.
