A Sanko has been constructed by BGB students and community in Roumari upazila of Kurigram. A Sanko has been constructed on the Jinjiram river of about 450 feet length and width of 6 feet in Goitapara village of Shaulmari Union of Upazila. After completing five consecutive days of construction work, on Wednesday 4th September, BGB students and crowd cut the ribbon and officially opened it for the general public. This brought relief to the people of the area.

Locals said that the common people of the area were in extreme distress as the people of various professions including the local primary, secondary and college students were bringing and taking daily essential products from the bazaar. Many have crossed by boat risking their lives for urgent needs. A Sanko was built long ago by the initiative of the local residents. But it is destroyed by flood water. Since then, the locals risked crossing the Jinjiram river in the village of Gayata Para with extreme suffering. About 20,000 people from 8 villages on both sides travel in this direction. No one has come forward to alleviate the sufferings of the people of this long-neglected township.

Even though the residents demanded the construction of a permanent bridge, it was not implemented.
Jamalpur Battalion - 35 BGB under Gaytapara BGB camp members and students built a basar sanko on the river to reduce public suffering. With the overall cooperation of the local students and BGBB, small vehicles and bamboo sakoti were made for the movement of local residents.
Parvez Mosharraf, a local student, said that Sanko was built with the full cooperation of BGB and students, thinking about the suffering of the people of the area. No more suffering now. Auto driver Maynul said, earlier it was impossible to cross by boat. At present, the construction of Sanko has facilitated the passage of passengers including autos.
In this regard, Goitapara BGB Camp Naib Subedar AB Siddique said, as a part of public service work, bamboo fences have been constructed to alleviate suffering. As a result, relief has returned to the common people.
Upazila Engineer Manchurul Haque said that there is no allocation for now. Necessary measures will be taken in consultation with the higher authorities for the permanent construction of the bridge.
Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Nahid Hasan Khan said that the matter will be reported to the higher authorities if the residents apply.
