The Asia Cup will be held in Bangladesh in ODI format. This was revealed in a statement by ACC, the highest governing body of Asian cricket. 2025 Asia Cup will be held in India. This event will be in T20 format. ACC has released the notification for the sponsorship rights of these two events.
In cricket, there are ICC tournaments every year. It has become a tradition for Asian teams to enter the Asia Cup just before that. The Asia Cup in that format has been held before certain ICC tournaments for the last few years.
The Asia Cup has been dropped before the 2024 T20 World Cup. However, the 2022 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup have been held for two consecutive years before the Asia Cup. The Asia Cup will return again before the 2026 T20 World Cup. 2025 Asia Cup will be in T20 format, and this tournament will be in ODI format before 2027 World Cup.
2027 Asia Cup will be the 6th edition of the competition on the soil of Bangladesh. In 1988, Asia Cup came to Bangladesh for the first time. Then the 2000 tournament was held in Dhaka. Then there was another gap of 12 years, which ended in 2012, after which Bangladesh hosted two consecutive editions
