Tigers take to the field today on a mission to defend the series against the West Indies

Bangladesh will take to the field at 6 pm today at the Sagarika Stadium in Chittagong. This is a fight to survive in the three-match T20 series against the West Indies. The Liton Das-led team was defeated in the first match of the series due to irresponsible batting. Therefore, they have to win today's match - otherwise, the series loss is certain.
Bangladesh's batters appeared as if they were unfamiliar in the first match. The team was practically knocked out of the match after losing 4 wickets in the powerplay. After that, the Tigers could not turn around. At the post-match press conference, pacer Tanjim Hasan Shakib also openly admitted that the failure of the top order was the main reason for the defeat. In his words, "We lost the wickets in the powerplay. If they had been set and got out, then I would have seen a different scene. But most of the batters got out before they were set."
Captain Liton Das also spoke in the same tone. He particularly criticized the irresponsible shot-playing of the middle order. Referring to Shamim Hossain Patwary, who was bowled for just 1 run off 4 balls, he said, “We have lost too many wickets in the powerplay. I am disappointed with Shamim’s batting. He needs to think about it. He needs to not just enjoy batting, he needs to take responsibility as well.”
Although the dew fell towards the end, the batting was a bit easier for Bangladesh, but it was not able to take advantage of it. Tanjim Shakib said, “The ball was coming to the bat well towards the end. If there was a set batter, the match would have been different.”
After such a failure, today’s match is a ‘do or die’ situation for the Bangladesh team. If the West Indies win, the series will be in their hands. On the other hand, if Bangladesh win, the fate of the series will be decided in the third and final match.
The Chittagong wicket, which has a different character from the slow wicket of Mirpur, is generally conducive to batters. Big runs are possible on this wicket if the batters can take responsibility and build an innings. Especially Liton Das, Towhid Hridoy and Shamim Hossain will have to take charge at the top order today.
The team's coaching staff is also trying to keep the batters mentally prepared. The fight to survive in the series will test not only batting, but also mental toughness today.
Despite winning the first match, the Caribbeans are not complacent. They strengthened themselves further by participating in optional practice yesterday. The way they batted positively against the spin attack is a big warning for Bangladesh's bowlers.
Their batters are now full of confidence, while Bangladesh's top order is now under pressure. Managing this pressure is today's big challenge.
Improvement is necessary in three areas for Bangladesh in today's match—
1. Responsibility in batting: The top order batters need to make the most of their start and get set to lengthen the innings.
2. Focus on fielding: There were several fielding mistakes and missed catches in the first match, which will not happen again today.
3. Discipline in bowling: You have to bowl according to a plan, especially in the death overs.
If you can handle these three aspects, then there is a strong chance of winning today's match. Otherwise, the series may be lost due to the dominance of the Caribbeans.
