Bangladesh's cricket team did not have a good start to the Champions Trophy. Bangladesh lost their first match against India in Dubai by 6 wickets on Thursday. However, the only silver lining in the match was Tawhid Hridoy's remarkable century and Zaker Ali's record-breaking partnership.
After losing 5 wickets for 35 runs, Tawhid Hridoy and Zaker Ali Anik rescued Bangladesh from continuous danger. Their unbroken partnership of 154 runs helped save the team's honour. After Zaker Ali scored a fifty, Hridoy brought up his first century of his ODI career, completing 100 runs in 118 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes.
Cricket analysts were impressed with Hridoy's innings. India's renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle wrote in an X-mail during the match, "I have been hearing about Tawhid Hridoy for a long time, but today he proved his mettle." Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja also described Hridoy's innings as extraordinary. He said, "In the conditions Bangladesh were in, it seemed like they wouldn't be able to score even 100 runs, but Hridoy and Zakir's batting was superb. To score a century against a strong bowling lineup like India's is a big deal."
Ramiz added, "Hridoy has the ability to play big shots and his aggressive attitude has made Bangladesh an invaluable asset in the middle order. His future is bright."
He advised Pakistan to learn from Zakir and Hridoy's partnership, especially the way they handled the situation and dragged the innings after falling to 5 for 35 runs was exemplary.
Meanwhile, Caribbean legend Ian Bishop believes that Tawhid Hridoy and India's Shubman Gill are capable of ruling world cricket in the future.
