Ronaldo's Al Nasr team won 3-2 against Al Ahli in a thrilling match in the Saudi Pro League on Thursday. Although Al Nasr was ahead in the match, French defender Mohamed Simakan left the field after seeing a red card in the 47th minute. However, despite being one member short, they were interested in the match, especially thanks to a goal from new signing John Duran.
Coach Stefano Pioli, considering the situation of the match, took Cristiano Ronaldo off the field and brought on defender Mohammed Al Fatil to strengthen the defense. Before being substituted, Pioli gave Ronaldo some instructions, and Ronaldo encouraged his teammates, giving up his personal desires to help the team.
This was the earliest substitution for Ronaldo in his career without any injuries. The 40-year-old superstar was aiming for the 1,000-goal milestone, but he left the field when the team needed him.
Ronaldo's positive attitude was also praised by John Duran. Duran said, "Ronaldo made everything easy for us. He is the best player in history, but he is willing to sacrifice his personal desires for the team. This is a great achievement for Al Nasr."
Ronaldo played 76 minutes but failed to make a big impact. Although he made 12 passes, he failed to create any chances. After his departure, Al Ahli equalized through Ivan Toni. However, Al Nasr came back with 10 men to secure the victory. Goals from Ayman Yahya in the 80th minute and John Duran in the 88th minute gave the two teams a 3-1 lead. Sumaihan Al-Nabit scored a goal in the final moments of added time, but it could not change the outcome of the match.
It was a historic victory for Al Nasr, which will remain a prime example of Ronaldo's sacrifice and team spirit.
