A new controversy has arisen regarding Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the Champions Trophy. Even as the time for finalizing the team approaches, the BCCI is yet to reach a decision on Bumrah's presence due to injury. Today is the last day to submit the final team to the ICC, but Bumrah's condition is still unclear.

ESPN Cricinfo reported that Bumrah's back scan was recently done, and a decision will be taken only after discussions with the BCCI's medical team. However, the Indian team has still kept Bumrah primarily for the Champions Trophy.

The last series before the Champions Trophy is against England, where the first two matches of the 3-match ODI series have already been completed. However, if Bumrah is not in the team, then another pacer Harshit Ranar, who played in the first two matches, can open his forehead.

The last match of the ODI series, which was supposed to be played in Ahmedabad, will be on February 12. But after the January 18 team was announced, Bumrah went to Bengaluru for treatment. Due to this, the possibility of his absence is increasing.

However, Bumrah injured his back in the second innings of the Sydney Test in early January and did not bowl again. He currently has back pain, from which it will take at least five weeks to fully recover.

In the absence of Bumrah, there is a possibility that another pacer of the Indian team, Harshit Rana, will get a chance. However, if Bumrah's physical condition improves a little in the Champions Trophy, he can be kept in the team. However, in that case, if the team is changed in the middle of the tournament, permission will have to be taken from the technical committee.

India's Champions Trophy campaign will begin against Bangladesh in Dubai on January 20. Apart from this, matches against New Zealand and Pakistan will also be held in Dubai.
