Neymar Jr., who played for Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, wanted to return to Barcelona. He himself offered Barca on the condition of giving up a large salary. But the Barcelona board did not show interest in him. As a result, the Brazilian superstar is on his way back to his childhood and first club Santos.
It has been claimed in the media that Neymar has given verbal consent to join Santos. According to an ESPN report, Neymar is in the final stages of returning to Santos.
However, he has to give up a large salary to return to the Brazilian league. Unable to do justice to his talent due to injuries, Neymar went to the Saudi Pro League at the age of 33. Although he still has six months left on his contract with Al Hilal, the process of canceling it is underway. Discussions are also underway between the two parties regarding debts.
According to ESPN, Neymar will resume talks with Al Hilal this week to terminate his contract. After the contract is terminated, Neymar can sign a 6-month contract with Santos. The contract may also include a one-year extension.
In fact, Neymar was interested in completing his contract with Al Hilal. However, the club's Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus commented that Neymar was not in a condition to play in the Saudi Pro League. He decided not to register him in the transfer market in the second half of the season. This will leave Neymar with no opportunity to play on any major stage other than the Asian Champions League.
Earlier, there were rumors of Neymar joining Inter Miami. There was also a possibility of teaming up with Messi and Suarez. There were even rumors of him joining the American club Chicago. However, Neymar wants to return to Santos to stay in regular form with the aim of returning to the national team and playing in the 2026 World Cup.
