Bangladeshi footballer Hamza Chowdhury is going to join a new address in the winter transfer market. Championship team Sheffield United is interested in signing Hamza, a 27-year-old Bangladeshi-origin defensive midfielder and right-back who has played for England's Under-19 team.
According to media reports, a loan deal for Hamza to play for Sheffield United from Leicester City may be completed within the next week. Leicester's new Dutch coach Van Nistelrooy is planning to hire a new right-back in the January transfer window. Hamza wants to leave Leicester and join Sheffield on loan to reduce the pressure on the club's additional salary.
Although on loan, Hamza, who has been officially allowed to play for the Bangladesh national team, also has the opportunity to sign a permanent contract with Sheffield United. He wants to play regular matches, which is why he is thinking of signing a contract with Sheffield. Because, he has only had the opportunity to play four Premier League matches for Leicester this season. He has played two matches in other competitions, in total, Hamza was on the field for only 131 minutes in the first half of the season.
Hamza Chowdhury joined Leicester City in the 2015-16 season. In the first two seasons, he played on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion. In the next season, he played 9 and 12 matches for Leicester, respectively. Due to his excellent performance in the 2019-20 season, he got the opportunity to play in 29 matches for Leicester. He played in 22 matches the following season.
However, when his form deteriorated in the 2021-22 season, he played 12 matches and joined Watford on loan. Leicester was relegated in the 2023-24 season, but Hamza played 41 matches and played an important role in returning Leicester to the Premier League. Hamza has played 7 matches for the England Under-21 team.
