The Australian batsman could not use the opportunity to represent the country in Tests. He was dropped from the team due to continuous failures. However, Nathan Maxwell is determined to be ready to grab the opportunity when it comes. The Australian selectors had made a bet on Maxwell against India. But it did not work at all. Maxwell, who had never opened in first-class cricket, failed to open in Test cricket.

The 25-year-old batsman could only score 72 runs in six innings at an average of 14.40 and a strike rate of 33.96 in the first three Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After such a performance, Australia finally dropped him and called up young talent Sam Constas.

While talking to Channel Seven, Maxwell expressed his feelings about being left out of the team. However, he wants to continue his fight to return without breaking down. He said, “I couldn't utilize the opportunities as I wanted. But these are all part of the game and I will return to the nets with full focus and work hard. Hopefully, I will be ready for the next opportunity.”

Maxwell also earned praise for his innings of 39 runs in the pink ball Test at Addy Leyde. But he could not play

comfortably in the rest of the innings. In particular, he did not know any answer to Jasprit Bumrah. He was dismissed four times by the experienced Indian pacer. Maxwell has accepted the reason for losing his place in the team. Now his goal is to prepare himself for the future.

He said, "If you do not utilize the opportunities, if you cannot perform as you want, then your place in the team is never secure. So I have missed a few opportunities with the bat, unfortunately I could not utilize them. But as I said, if the opportunity comes again, I will definitely be ready to make sure that I get it."
