Pep Guardiola's Manchester City fell far short of the title race after losing 2-0 to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday night. The loss dropped City to fifth place, with 23 points.
During the match, Liverpool fans jeered Guardiola, saying, "You'll be out of a job tomorrow morning." However, Guardiola responded by holding up six fingers, pointing to the six Premier League titles City have won under his leadership.
At the post-match press conference, Guardiola said, "I didn't expect anything like this from the Liverpool fans, but it's part of the game. We have to accept reality and start again."
Liverpool took 18 shots in the match, of which 7 were on target. City had only 8 shots and only 2 were on target. Guardiola was disappointed with his team's condition, but refused to give up.
Guardiola also said, *"Congratulations to Liverpool. We will reset and start from zero. I have never given up when in danger. I will be by these players' side, just as my parents were by my side."*
Liverpool are at the top with 34 points and Manchester City are 11 points behind. A tough challenge awaits Guardiola's team.
