Bangladesh prepared the squad with five pacers against Pakistan. The batsmen have been reduced by one pacer in the upcoming Test series against India.

BCB selector Hannan Sarkar explained this after announcing the 16-member squad for the two-Test series today (Thursday). He said, "Conditions are playing here in Chennai and playing in Kanpur." They can also pace wickets. We have four pacers who are difficult to play. Even though three play, one remains a back-up. The batting line-up is being lengthened a bit because with five pacers in this squad, the extra pacer may not be needed.'

This selector of BCB said, 'As the thought in the previous series was that Taskin (Ahmed) backed up after a long time there we also thought of back-up. But Alhamdulillah Taskin is in much better form or rhythm. Taskin has bowled very well back in Tests. From there we can cover with four men in the pace option.

He also said that everyone thinks about their advantage in the home series. We have covered both categories of spin-pace. Taijul (Islam), Naeem (Hasan) did not play the match but they were also in Pakistan. We are also in a good place with four pacers. After that, in batting too, we thought if we increase the option by one, we can think about it.''- he added.

Earlier, Hannan was saying about the absence of Shariful Islam, 'Shariful cannot be called 100% fit. He was also unfit in the second Test (in Pakistan). That is why the election was not in the process. He was then kept on follow-up during that process. Physio-trainers are taking care of him. I wouldn't call him 100% fit for Tests. Because Tests may require 15-20 overs of bowling. We also have T20 games ahead. Shariful is our important cricketer in that edition as well.

"From that place and since he is not 100% fit, we are not going to go to the risk area. Because we've built up quite a few contenders in our test team now. Those who are fit. So we didn't want to take a risk with Shariful. Hopefully, he will come to the T20 team when he recovers with time.
