The important board meeting of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has started. The meeting started at the appointed time at 3 pm. President Farooq Ahmed appeared first at BCB. Then Akram Khan, Iftekhar Rahman Mithu, Kazi Inam, Fahim Sinha, Khaled Mahmud Sujan appeared one by one.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) called an emergency board meeting on August 21. Nazmul Hasan Papon officially resigned from the post of president on the same day. After that Farooq Ahmed took charge of BCB as the new board president. BCB is going to sit in another emergency board meeting today in the gap of a week.

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and head coach Chandika Hathurusingha are expected to be decided at the crucial meeting. Confirming the matter, BCB Director Akram Khan said that the board can decide on some outstanding issues in the meeting.

Talks of Shakib's ouster from the national team have surfaced in the wake of a legal notice in a murder case. Earlier, BCB President Farooq Ahmed said that a decision will be taken about Shakib after the first Test.

After the political change on August 5, most of the BCB directors are now in hiding. 9 directors are required for BCB board meeting. The constitution of the board mentions the presence of at least one third of the directors in the board meeting of 25 directors. So there was a doubt about the completion of quorum in the last board meeting. Finally the quorum was filled with the help of two new directors Farooq Ahmed and Nazmul Abedin Fahim. Only 8 directors from the board of Nazmul Hasan Papon appeared in the board meeting.

Not many people like Ismail Haider Mallik, Shafiur Rahman Nadel, Naimur Rahman Durjoy or Nazmul Papon were present in the meeting. Akram Khan, Saiful Alam Swapan, Fahim Sinha, Khaled Mahmud Sujan, Salauddin Chowdhury, Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu, Kazi Inam and Mahbub Anam attended the emergency board meeting. They can also be present at next Thursday's meeting.

Meanwhile, despite leaving the post of president, Papon, who is a councilor from Abahani, is still on the director's post. There are still 15 people associated with Awami League politics as directors.

According to the constitution, if a director is absent from three consecutive board meetings, his position will become vacant. In that case, they will remain directors even after Thursday's meeting. If they are absent from the next meeting too, these posts can be officially vacated.
