BNP standing committee member and former health and family welfare minister. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain said, the case was filed against me because of political revenge.
On Thursday (August 22), Judge Abul Kashem's court of Dhaka Special Judge 1 announced the acquittal of the accused Khandaker Musharraf in the presence of the money laundering case as the charges were not proved. He said this in a briefing after the verdict.
Khandaker Musharraf said that there is a law in 2012 that those who have assets abroad must also declare it. I declare my and my wife's assets abroad as per the Act of 2013. Tax officials collect tax from me through this declaration. But later on, a case was filed against me based on the amount of that declaration.
He said that they could not prove that I had smuggled any money abroad from 2001 to 2006. The lawyers admitted that the case against me was just a political vendetta.
This top leader of BNP said, due to this case, I had to go to jail, I had to be tortured. The special court judge gave the right judgment today with honest courage. Thank him for that.
