Jamaat-NCP announces long march to bring back Awami League in December: Rashed Khan

Prime Minister's political assistant Rashed Khan has alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) are jointly conspiring against the BNP government. He claimed that the announcement of Awami League and Sheikh Hasina's return to politics in December is related to the announcement of Jamaat-NCP's long march.

Rashed Khan said these things in response to questions from journalists after a rally organized to mark the 48th founding anniversary of BNP in Jhenaidah on Tuesday (September 1) afternoon.

Allegations of conspiracy against Jamaat

Rashed Khan alleged that Jamaat is trying to take the field against BNP again, along with Awami League, like in 1996.

He said that such attempts are being made to rehabilitate Sheikh Hasina and Awami League in politics. He also claimed that the Awami League's announcement of returning to politics around December and the announcement of the Jamaat-NCP's long march are part of the same plan.

However, there was no immediate response from Jamaat-e-Islami and NCP on Rashed Khan's statements.

What he said about the 'Mecca Military Agreement'

Rashed Khan also answered journalists' questions about the 'Mecca Military Agreement' that was recently under discussion.

He said that NCP chief Nahid Islam, Jamaat and other political parties have expressed a positive attitude towards the agreement. He claimed that a large section of the country's people are also positive about it.

Rashed Khan said that the government will take an appropriate decision on this issue, considering the country's sovereignty, diplomatic policy and overall security.

Comments on regaining the GS post of DUCSU

Rashed Khan also spoke about regaining the GS post in the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections.

He claimed that although Nurul Haque Nur won the VP post and he won the GS post in the then elections, he was shown to be defeated at the behest of the Awami League government.

He also commented that the Dhaka University authorities have respected the voting rights of thousands of students by returning the GS post.

No decision has been made about rebel candidates

When asked about the return of BNP rebel candidates to the party in the upcoming parliamentary elections, Rashed Khan said that the party high command can consider the matter of those who want to return to the party after admitting their mistakes.

However, he said that no final decision has been taken yet about those who participated in the elections as rebel candidates and opposed the party candidate.

Rashed Khan's statements on the political situation have sparked new discussions about the upcoming elections and the possible positions of various political parties.
