A group of protesters have taken up a position in front of his house in Segunbagicha in the capital, demanding the arrest of BNP Chairperson's advisor Fazlur Rahman. They gathered in front of Concord Tower since Monday (August 25) morning. Army personnel and police were deployed at the scene.
Criticism has been building around Fazlur Rahman since his controversial comments on the July uprising. BNP has issued him a show cause notice in this incident, asking him to respond within 24 hours. Meanwhile, this morning, some protesters gathered in front of his house, started chanting slogans and demanded his arrest.
Police said that some people who participated in the July uprising gathered there since morning. One of the protesters said, “BNP’s Fazlur Rahman has insulted the revolutionaries by calling them the children of Razakars and black power. We are peacefully demanding his arrest. However, if our civil movement is not appreciated, we will not remain passive in the future.”
Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Police Commissioner of Ramna Zone of DMP, said, “Some people have taken up positions in front of Fazlur Rahman’s house. Our members are there and talking to them.”
