Mother: The refuge of selfless love

Published: 05:40 10 May 2026
Mother's Day is celebrated all over the world on the second Sunday of May every year. This day is not just to wish, but also to honor the sacrifice, love and contribution of mothers. Although there is no specific day to express love for mothers, this day reminds us in the midst of a busy life—how much time we give to mothers.
Today I want to tell a story from my life, about my mother. When I first got into the mess for university, it was night by the time I reached there. That night, my mother was in the mess with me. Because that was the first mess of my life. Why am I talking about that day—because I was never alone without my mother.
That night, my mother was stroking my head and back. Every touch of hers seemed to be speaking silently—take care of yourself when I am gone, take care of yourself, and adapt to all situations. Many times in my life, my mother has loved me like this, but that touch that day seemed to say something different, which I still feel today.
Today I understand how much I have hurt you, mother. But one thing was never said—I love you very much, mother. I am eternally indebted to you. It is never possible to repay this debt of selfless love of yours.
In the end, there is only one thing—
Mother, you are the biggest shelter in my life, the safest place. Even all the love in the world cannot be equal to your love. As long as I live, I will carry this love and gratitude towards you in my heart.
