Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) President Shawkat Aziz Russell has commented that the country's industrial sector has been facing a severe gas crisis due to the failure to take timely decisions in the past. However, he said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has assured to take effective initiatives to resolve this complex crisis that has arisen in the current situation.

The BTMA President confirmed this while addressing journalists after an important bilateral meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office at the Secretariat on Wednesday (July 29) morning. He said that the Prime Minister has tried to understand the current stagnation and challenges in the textile sector with great attention and sincerity.

In the context of the meeting, the BTMA President further mentioned that the government's positive and sincere attitude towards solving the problems of the textile sector in dealing with the crisis is encouraging domestic industrial entrepreneurs. It was hoped that this timely step of the Prime Minister will play a major role in the country's economy and industrial development.

Initiatives have already been taken to assess the current condition of the factories that have been completely closed or partially damaged due to the gas crisis and other reasons. A detailed report has been called for by the entrepreneurs to specifically identify where and how much government and policy support is needed, said this top leader of the textile sector.
