State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has claimed that the country currently has the highest fuel reserves in its history.
He gave this information while talking to reporters after visiting the Eastern Refinery Limited in Chittagong on Friday.
The State Minister said that the government has taken multifaceted initiatives to ensure the country's energy security. Currently, the government has more fuel reserves than at any time in the past, which will help meet the ongoing demand.
He said that the government has strengthened its efforts to import refined and unrefined fuel from alternative sources. The process of procuring crude fuel from various countries, especially Malaysia, is underway, which will help in using the capacity of the Eastern Refinery more effectively.
Anindya Islam Amit also said that the country has adequate fuel reserves for the months of April and May and work is underway to ensure additional reserves by keeping in mind the potential demand for June. The government is working continuously to maintain uninterrupted fuel supply.
He also mentioned that in the current situation, electricity management is being conducted by prioritizing the agricultural and industrial sectors.
