Khoksa Haor River Dam Freed from Encroachment with Administration Intervention

The Haor River Dam in Khoksa Upazila of Kushtia has been freed from the encroachment of influential people. On Tuesday (September 16) afternoon, the dam was freed from encroachment with the intervention of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer in the Ektarpur Char Biharia area of Janipur Union of the upazila.
Khoksa Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Pradipta Roy Dipan rushed to the spot based on the complaint of the locals. Ignoring the adverse weather, he went to the spot and found that some influential local people were farming fish around the dam of the Haor River without any permission. This was disrupting the normal flow of water in the river and obstructing the free movement of fish, which is clearly a violation of the Fisheries Conservation Act.
After witnessing the situation, the UNO immediately took the initiative to demolish the illegal barricades built on the dam. Although he did not get the expected cooperation from the locals at first, he did not back down. Later, on his own initiative and with the help of two locals, he demolished the barricades. As a result, the dam was once again open to the public.
This step brought relief to the locals. They appreciated the bold initiative of the Upazila Executive Officer and expressed hope for such an effective role in the future.
Upazila Fisheries Officer Ahsan Habib was also present at the spot at that time.
