Voting opportunity for expatriates! Now expatriates can also vote through postal ballots

Dhaka: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that registered expatriate voters and National Identity Card (NID) holders of Bangladesh will be able to exercise their voting rights through postal ballot in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
He said that work is underway to create a mobile app named ‘Postal Ballot BD’ for this purpose.
The CEC gave this information at a view-sharing meeting on ‘Distribution of Smart National Identity Cards and Motivating Expatriates to Vote’ organized by the Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto, Canada. As the chief guest at the meeting, he inaugurated the expatriate voter registration and national identity card distribution activities and urged expatriates to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
At the meeting, he highlighted the election process in Bangladesh and the preparations of the Election Commission. He also explained in detail to the expatriates how they can register as voters and vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The expatriates thanked the Chief Election Commissioner for visiting Canada and exchanging views with them and expressed their gratitude to the Consulate for organizing such a meeting.
Consul General Md. Faruk Hossain served as the moderator. More than a hundred expatriate Bangladeshis participated in the meeting. The expatriates participated in a direct question-and-answer session with the Commissioner and had an open discussion on various election-related issues.
The exchange of views was attended by businessmen, doctors, engineers, educators, journalists, students and various professional expatriate Bangladeshis living in Canada.
