Three bogies of the Dhaka-bound Kalni Express train separated from the engine while it was moving in the Talshahar railway station area of Ashuganj, Brahmanbaria. The incident occurred at around 11:50 am on Thursday. However, no casualties were reported.
Railway sources said that the Kalni Express, which left Sylhet, passed the Brahmanbaria railway station at around 11:30 am. After a while, when it reached the Talshahar area, the buffer of the train opened and the three rear bogies separated from the engine. At this time, sensing the situation, the locomaster quickly applied the brakes and stopped the front bogies, including the engine, about half a kilometer away. Suddenly, the incident spread panic among the passengers and created a rush.
After the incident, the staff of Ashuganj and Talshahar railway stations quickly reached the spot and started the work of reassembling the separated bogies.
Master in charge of Talshahar Railway Station, Shahidul Islam, said, "Three coaches of the train got separated while it was moving. The engine and the front coaches have been stopped near the station. There is no rescue operation here, only the separated coaches are being reconnected. Train movement is also normal as there is an additional line."
