The Bangladesh Coast Guard has arrested 122 fishermen on charges of fishing by intruding into Myanmar waters. 19 fishing boats were also seized during this time. Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq gave this information on Friday (August 29) afternoon.
He said that based on secret information, a special operation was conducted in the estuary of the Naf River adjacent to Shahparir Island. At that time, a total of 122 fishermen, including 29 Bangladeshis and 93 Rohingyas, who crossed the border and went to fish inside Myanmar, were arrested.
Legal action is being taken against the detained fishermen. The Coast Guard said that such operations will continue to ensure the safety of fishermen and prevent illegal activities.
