Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said that at this stage of his life, he has no other personal interests or goals. Now, he has only one goal — to present a fair, free and acceptable election for the country.

He said these words in a brief speech to the devotees before the Friday prayers at the Jessore Collectorate Mosque on Friday (July 25). He offered prayers at this mosque during a short stopover in Jessore on his way to Khulna.

The CEC said, “I have performed various responsibilities in my government service life, accumulated a lot of experience. But what has come to my hands now is not just a responsibility — it is a big responsibility for the country. I want to restore the trust of the people by organizing a good election. This is not possible alone, for this I seek your cooperation and prayers.”

He also said that this election should be the basis for shaping the future of the country, where every vote will have value and people’s trust in the democratic process will return.

At one point in his speech, he sought prayers from everyone for the victims and injured in the recent plane crash in Dhaka. At the same time, he also participated in a prayer meeting organized in memory of the students killed in the Milestone School tragedy and expressed deep condolences to their families.

He was accompanied on this visit by Jessore Deputy Commissioner Md. Azaharul Islam and local administration officials.
