BNP chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia returned to the country on Tuesday (May 7th) after a long four months of advanced treatment in London. A special air ambulance carrying him landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 9am.

Earlier on Monday (May 7th), the air ambulance started from London's Heathrow Airport to Dhaka on Monday (May 7th) at 9:30 pm. Khaleda Zia is with her two daughters. Zobaida Rahman and Sharmila Rahman, doctors and five members of the medical board.

Party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Joint Secretary-General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Senior Joint Secretary-General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and senior BNP leaders were present to welcome the BNP chairperson at the airport. Thousands of party leaders gathered in the airport area from morning to the news of the arrival of the former Prime Minister.

After leaving the airport, Khaleda Zia left for Gulshan residence 'Firoza'. It is reported that his medical activities will continue there.

BNP sources said Khaleda Zia left Dhaka for London for advanced treatment on January 5. The elder son Tarek Rahman and family members welcomed him at Heathrow Airport on January 5th. He was admitted directly to The London Clinic. About 5 days after treatment, he stayed at his son's house and his medical activities continued there.

At a BNP press conference yesterday, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said Khaleda Zia's physical condition had improved somewhat due to her rest and regular treatment in London. However, this trend of treatment will continue to return home.

Surrounding this return, the tide of emotions and expectations has been clearly seen among the BNP leaders.
