The mirror house located in Kachukhet, Uttara and Agargaon areas of Dhaka was visited by the interim government's chief advisor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, and representatives of the media from home and abroad. They were accompanied by family members of the victims and Indian journalist Ark Deb, who is the editor of 'Inscriptidotomy'.
Ark Deb, who previously worked for Anandabazar Patrika and News18, posted on his Facebook about the extremely inhumane conditions inside the mirror house. He shared a picture of an electric chair there and wrote, "It is important to keep an eye on this chair. This chair is kept in a room of the mirror house of the mother of fascism, Sheikh Hasina (in Agargaon area). This chair was used to give electric shocks to 'high value' prisoners."
Ark Dev also mentioned in his post that the DGFI's Counter Terrorism Intelligence Bureau (CTIB) was in charge of this mirror room and the sounds of prisoners' cries and groans could be heard amidst the exhaust fan. He said, "From today, the whole world will see all the pictures of the mirror room."
In another post, Ark Dev shared the experience of Michael Chakma. He said that cell number 113 was next to the bathroom and there was a 24-hour CCTV camera. He himself was imprisoned in this cell for about two years.
After visiting the mirror room, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus compared the Awami League regime to the 'Ayyam-e-Jahiliyyat' (age of ignorance). He thanked the Commission on Enforced Disappearances for discovering the mirror room and said, "The previous government has established Jahiliyyat everywhere in these Ayyam-e-Jahiliyyat."
Meanwhile, the condition of the mirror room and the inhuman treatment of prisoners have now created a lot of discussion on social media.
