1,522 policemen who lost their jobs during the Awami League government are returning to work. Police Headquarters AIG (Media and PR) Enamul Haque Sagar confirmed the matter.
Police Headquarters said that 1,522 reinstatement applications of policemen dismissed during the previous government have been received. The applicants include:
1,025 constables
79 naiks
180 ASIs/ATSIs
200 SIs/Sergeants/TSIs
10 inspectors
28 non-police members
The Police Headquarters also said that a committee headed by a DIG was formed in August last year to review the applications for reinstatement of these members. The committee has already submitted a report with recommendations. Police Headquarters is taking steps to reinstate those who won in the Appellate Tribunal.
However, those who did not file a departmental appeal against the dismissal order could not be reinstated. The Police Headquarters further stated that the reinstatement process of those who did not file a case in the Administrative Tribunal against the dismissal or removal order was not possible due to legal reasons.
In addition, those who filed criminal cases for moral turpitude, financial corruption or other charges could not be considered for reinstatement.
The Police Headquarters has once again requested these members who have been reinstated to refrain from any undisciplined behavior.
