Denmark's interest in increasing cooperation in the rehabilitation of victims of torture

Monday (September 9) Foreign Affairs Adviser. In a courtesy meeting with Touhid Hossain at his office, Denmark's ambassador in Dhaka, Christian Brix Møller, expressed interest in increasing Denmark's cooperation in building good governance, democracy, human rights, institutional capacity as well as rehabilitation of victims of torture in Bangladesh.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador handed over the original congratulatory message of Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen to the Foreign Affairs Adviser. The adviser outlined the priorities of the interim government, including restoration of law and order and reforms in state governance. He said that Bangladesh values ​​and attaches great importance to the long-standing relationship with Denmark.

The adviser specifically noted the aspirations of the youth, which necessitated reforms in various fields, including the political and electoral system and the economy.

The Ambassador elaborated on the priorities of Denmark's engagement with Bangladesh, particularly on green transition, and briefed the Adviser on Denmark's two priority projects - construction and operation of Laldia Container Terminal in Chittagong through APM Terminal Company and 500 MW offshore wind power generation.

The adviser welcomed the growing interest of Danish companies for business and investment in Bangladesh.

Both sides have expressed their desire to further engage in multilateral forums to secure Denmark's non-permanent membership of the Security Council for 2025-2026.
