Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan resigned

Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan has submitted his resignation letter to the Ministry of Law, said Legal Adviser Asif Nazrul.
Asif Nazrul gave this information on Facebook Live on Saturday afternoon.
Earlier, while talking to Dhaka Post this afternoon, Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan said that he will resign by this evening.
In the morning, Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, announced the siege of the Supreme Court with an ultimatum for the resignation of the Chief Justice and others. Later, a large number of students gathered at the Supreme Court premises. There they started shouting slogans demanding the resignation of the Chief Justice.
Meanwhile, 5 judges of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court have also decided to resign. All of them will submit their resignations to the President by today, according to sources in the Law Ministry.
The 5 judges of the Appellate Division who resigned are Justice M Inayetur Rahim, Justice Abu Zafar Siddiqui, Justice Jahangir Hossain, Justice Md. Shahinur Islam and Justice Kashefa Hossain. However, the judge of the Appellate Division. Ashfaqul Islam will not resign.
