Former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee has sparked a new controversy over the recent killing of Sharif Osman Hadi, which has been discussed in the country. She claimed that the Indian central government was involved in the murder. She also alleged that Indian Home Minister Amit Shah had contacted her to not disclose the information about the arrest of the accused in the case.

Mamata Banerjee made these comments while addressing a program organized by a media outlet in Kolkata on Tuesday.

There, Mamata claimed that several people involved in the murder of Osman Hadi fled Bangladesh and entered West Bengal via Meghalaya. Later, the West Bengal Police Special Task Force (STF) arrested them.

At that time, Mamata said, "The incident was a big success of the STF. At that time, the Indian Home Minister called me and requested me not to disclose the matter."

Although Mamata Banerjee did not present any evidence or official documents in support of the allegations raised in her statement. At that time, she also claimed that she was aware of who was behind the murder and whose names had come up in the investigation.

Although a section of the supporters present at the program called for the matter to be disclosed in detail, she refused. In this regard, she said, "I do not want to disclose all the information in the interest of the country. It may create tension."

However, there was no immediate response from the Indian central government or Home Minister Amit Shah to Mamata Banerjee's statement. Political analysts believe that Mamata's statement will give rise to new controversy in the political context of West Bengal.
