US President Donald Trump has rejected Tehran’s latest peace proposal. Iran has reacted strongly to Washington after the US. The country claims that it will not bow to US pressure in any way and that protecting national interests is its main goal.
Iran’s semi-official media outlet ‘Tasnim News Agency’, citing a reliable source, said that the fundamental rights and sovereignty of the Iranian people were given the highest priority in the response sent by Tehran. At the same time, Iran directly rejected the previous US proposal.
According to the source, Washington’s proposal was basically a tactic to force Iran to surrender to Trump’s “unreasonable and excessive demands”. It was also mentioned that Tehran did not accept that pressure.
The source added, “No one in Iran is making plans to please Trump. The negotiating team makes decisions only considering the rights of the Iranian people and the interests of the country. If Trump is unhappy with this, it is actually positive for Iran.”
Criticizing Donald Trump, the same source claimed that the US president is repeatedly failing diplomatically because he does not want to accept the reality of the situation. According to them, the politics of force and pressure are making the situation more complicated.
Analysts say that this contradictory position of the US and Iran could further increase tensions in the Middle East. There is also growing concern in the international community, especially over the fear that the recent ceasefire talks may collapse.
