In a shocking incident at Dr. Malakareddy Homoeopathic Medical College in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, an assistant professor was physically assaulted by a student for preventing cheating during an internal exam. The incident occurred on Friday, 20 February, and was captured on CCTV, according to a report by NDTV. Although the accused student initially denied the attack, the footage clearly confirms his actions.

The assault took place during a “Materia Medica” exam in the homeopathy department. Assistant Professor Shivrajkumar noticed that a student named Shahbaz was using a mobile phone to cheat. The professor immediately confiscated the student’s answer sheet and instructed him to leave the exam hall. Angered, Shahbaz suddenly attacked the professor.
CCTV footage shows that other students quickly intervened, restraining Shahbaz and separating him from the professor. However, a few minutes later, Shahbaz returned and struck the professor again. The shocking incident caused panic in the exam hall and spread fear among other students.
Following the attack, the college authorities informed Shahbaz’s guardians and have decided to bar him from all future exams for violating institutional discipline. An internal inquiry committee has also been formed to investigate the matter.
Despite the assault, Assistant Professor Shivrajkumar has not yet filed a written complaint with the local police. The incident has raised serious concerns across the academic community in India about the safety of teachers and the need to maintain discipline and a secure environment during examinations.
