An Indian national has been charged in a US court for allegedly hitting two teenagers with a metal fork and slapping a female passenger on a Lufthansa flight from Chicago to Germany. The accused has been named as Praneet Kumar Usiripalli. This information was given by the US Attorney's Office in Massachusetts.
According to court documents, Praneet first hit a 17-year-old teenager on the shoulder with a metal fork. He then hit another 17-year-old teenager, causing a wound to the back of his head. The first teenager was sleeping in the middle seat. After waking up, he saw 28-year-old Praneet leaning over him. Praneet hit the left collarbone and then jumped on the second teenager.
Seeing the situation, the flight attendants tried to stop Praneet. At that time, he showed the gesture of holding a pistol in his hand and then put an imaginary pistol in his mouth and pulled the trigger. He then turned to a female passenger and slapped her and also tried to hit a flight attendant.
The plane was returned to Boston Logan International Airport in the United States for security reasons, and Praneet was detained there. Praneet is currently not in the United States legally. He came to the United States on a student visa and was enrolled in a master's program in biblical studies.
Praneet has been charged in a US court with using a dangerous weapon with the intent to cause physical harm to another person while traveling on a special aircraft. If convicted, Praneet could face up to 10 years in prison, up to 3 years of conditional release and a fine of up to $250,000.
