Why Gen Z wants Sushila Karki as Prime Minister

Published: 03:38 11 September 2025
In the context of violent protests in Nepal, the protesters have expressed their desire to bring former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as the new interim Prime Minister after the fall of the government. The issue has already been discussed by lawyers and Gen G leaders.
Although Sushila Karki is 73 years old, the Gen G protesters consider her suitable for this position. Because, they want a leader who has a corruption-free image, no connection with a political party and is experienced. In this regard, Sushila Karki fully meets their expectations.
Sushila Karki's husband Durga Prasad Subedi was once associated with the Nepali Congress, but Sushila Karki herself has no political connections. She started her career as a lawyer, later served as a judge at the local level and finally served as the Chief Justice of Nepal.
If Sushila Karki becomes the interim Prime Minister this time, a new chapter will begin in the history of Nepal as the first female Prime Minister.
