Israeli attack in Doha: Top Hamas leaders narrowly escaped

The Israeli army and Shin Bet (Israeli internal security agency) carried out airstrikes targeting the Hamas leadership in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The Israeli military claimed that the attack targeted top leaders of the Palestinian resistance movement.
Israeli television channel Twelve reported that the attack was carried out while the Hamas delegation was attending a meeting on the latest US-brokered ceasefire proposal.
In a statement to the Lebanese-based media outlet Al Mayadeen, Hamas confirmed that its negotiating delegation narrowly escaped the Israeli assassination attempt. However, Palestinian resistance expert Hani al-Dali said that although several Hamas activists were killed in the Doha attack, the top leaders are safe. He claimed that the Israeli assassination attempt, with the help of the US, ultimately failed.
Hani al-Dali said the attack in Doha made it clear that the talks were being used strategically as part of the ongoing war in Gaza. Reuters reported that loud explosions were heard in Doha's Katara area and plumes of smoke were seen in the sky.
According to observers, the attack in Doha has once again brought to the fore the aggressive stance of Israel and the United States. They are trying to sabotage the peace talks by resorting to violence during the very time they are taking place. The same strategy that was adopted before the Iranian attack in June is now being used against the Palestinian resistance movement.
