"Houthi attacks targeting Israel"

Published: 05:34 3 September 2025
Sirens have suddenly sounded in central Israel, including Tel Aviv. The Houthi rebels have launched a missile attack on Israel for the first time in retaliation.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the attack. Army Radio journalist Daron Kadus said the attack was planned after an Israeli strike killed a top Houthi leader last week. The Houthis launched four ballistic missiles and two drones, but they were destroyed before they reached Israeli territory.
An analysis by The Jerusalem Post found that cluster bombs were being used in the missiles fired by the Houthi. As a result, some damage could be prevented, but it was not possible to prevent some damage.
The Houthi attack was originally part of a protest against the Israeli attack on Gaza in October 2023 and a show of solidarity with the Palestinians. The conflict in Gaza has already killed more than 63,000 people and injured 161,000. Despite repeated calls by the international community for a ceasefire, Tel Aviv has not heeded them.
