Every day in Gaza seems to be a new nightmare. Amidst the roar of bombs, lives being crushed under rubble and lives being lost to starvation—people are just struggling to survive. At least 71 Palestinians lost their lives in the ongoing Israeli attacks throughout the day on Saturday (July 26). Heartbreakingly, 42 of them were waiting in line for relief—whose last hope was also shattered by the bomb.

This bloody reality has been compounded by the tragic picture of starvation and malnutrition. The Gaza Health Ministry said that the famine has reached an extreme level due to the siege. Five more people died of starvation on Saturday. The number of people who have died from malnutrition since the start of the war has reached 127, 85 of whom are children.

While the whole world watches this cruel reality in silence, Israel says it will suspend military operations in some “civilian areas and humanitarian corridors” from Sunday to allow aid to reach them. But it has not specified which areas this pause will apply to.

On the other hand, Israel has once again blamed the UN for the lack of aid. But the UN and human rights organizations say they are helpless because they do not have safe passage and permission from Israel. Even if they want to help the people of Gaza, they cannot.

At the end of the day, every child, mother, old man and young man in Gaza is asking only one question – when will there be an end to this hell?

And us? We are just counting the lives lost.
