‘War in the name of Haider’, Khamenei Declares

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has declared, ‘War in the name of Haider’, sparking renewed tension in the Middle East.’ He made the announcement in a Persian-language post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday night. In Islamic history, the name ‘Haider’ is an honorific nickname for Hazrat Ali (RA), which means ‘lion’. The name has symbolic significance and spiritual value in the Shia Muslim community. Analysts believe that Khamenei’s comment could be considered a direct call for military action or resistance.
Just before this announcement, former US President Donald Trump gave a strong message to Khamenei on the social media platform ‘Truth Social’. There, Trump wrote, “We know where the so-called Supreme Leader is hiding. He is an easy target, but he is safe there—we will not remove (kill) him, at least not for now.” He also said, “We do not want missiles fired at civilians or American troops. Our patience is running out.”
The conflicting statements by Khamenei and Trump have created deep concern in the international arena. US-Iran tensions in the Middle East are not new, but this time they have created fears of a direct escalation towards war. Observers say that if Iran increases its attacks through Hezbollah, Hashd al-Shaabi or the Houthis, it could spread violence throughout the region. On the other hand, if the US launches a military operation inside Iran, it could be the beginning of a terrible war.
Various international organizations, including the United Nations, have already called on both sides to exercise restraint. However, no one can say for sure what is actually going to happen immediately after this ‘declaration of war’.
