The Liberal Party, led by current Prime Minister Mark Carney, has won the Canadian general election. However, it is not yet certain whether they will win a majority in the 343-seat House of Commons, according to a BBC live report on Tuesday (April 29).

Canada's public broadcaster CBC reported that the Liberal Party won 163 seats in the initial results. Their closest rival, the Conservative Party, won 149 seats. In addition, the Bloc Québécois won 23 seats, the New Democrat Party won 7 seats and the Green Party won 1 seat.

A victory in 172 seats is needed to form a majority government. As a result, the Liberal Party has not yet been able to secure a single majority. Nevertheless, it is almost certain that Mark Carney will remain as Prime Minister.

Since the announcement of the election results, supporters have been excited at the Liberal Party office. But they are still eagerly waiting for confirmation of a majority. It is believed that Mark Carney will address his supporters very soon.

The election is being held against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump's tariff policies and threats to tie Canada more closely to the United States. Mark Carney took a strong stance against these positions during the election campaign.

In a speech on April 24, he said, "This is Canada - and we will decide what happens here." He called for a stand against Trump's threats and support for the Liberals by voting.
