The Senate has given final approval to US President Donald Trump's nominee Tulsi Gabbard as the US Director of National Intelligence. Tulsi's nomination was finalized in the Senate on Wednesday (February 12), local time.
According to the report, the Republican-controlled Senate approved Gabbard for this position by a vote of 52-48. According to the Time report, Tulsi took the oath after the nomination was finalized. The country's 18 intelligence agencies will be under her.
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in the United States on a two-day visit at the invitation of Donald Trump. In the meantime, Tulsi Gabbard met with Modi in Washington DC on Wednesday. Modi confirmed this information on social media X.
Congratulating Modi, he wrote in his post, "I met with US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. Various aspects of India-US friendship were discussed. However, Modi did not give any further details."
Earlier, the news agency AP reported that Tulsi is the first Hindu representative elected to Congress to become the director of the US intelligence agency. Tulsi is consistently seen speaking out about Hindus in the country.
