Sheikh Abdullah bin Suleiman Al-Maneya, a member of the Astronomical Board of Saudi Arabia and advisor to the Royal Court, said that the holy month of Ramadan will start in Saudi Arabia from March 1. The Ramadan moon is expected to be sighted on the evening of February 28, based on which the fasting will begin in Saudi Arabia.
He said that this year the month of Ramadan will be 29 days and the last day of Ramadan will be on March 29. After that, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on March 30. However, the Saudi Supreme Court will officially announce the sighting of the moon.
Sheikh Abdullah also said that the Ramadan moon will be born at 3:44 am on February 28 and the moon will be visible in the sky until 32 minutes after sunset in the evening, which will be easily visible to the eye.
Meteorologists said that this year the month of Ramadan will start at the end of the winter season, due to which the first fasting will be in a cold environment. Muslims in Middle Eastern countries will fast for about 13 hours.
Meanwhile, in South Asian countries, especially Bangladesh, fasting usually begins a day later. Accordingly, Muslims in Bangladesh will observe Ramadan on March 2.
