Gaza, Palestine: After more than 15 months of fighting, Gazans are searching for their lost relatives in the rubble after a ceasefire was declared between Hamas and Israel. Local volunteers are searching for bodies in the rubble of Rafah, but they are nothing but skeletons.
Al Jazeera reports that Israeli forces have caused widespread destruction in Gaza during the terrible 15-month conflict. Many who returned to Gaza at the beginning of the ceasefire are unable to find their lost relatives, only the remains of the bodies are found. One volunteer said that they have recovered 120 decomposed bodies in two days.
Although the work of removing the rubble has begun, the task has become extremely difficult due to the lack of heavy equipment. However, the United Nations says that about 900 trucks have entered Gaza with humanitarian aid.
Meanwhile, despite the ceasefire in Gaza, Israeli forces have intensified their attacks in the occupied West Bank. On Tuesday, at least 10 people were killed and many more were wounded in a raid on the town of Jenin.
The Palestinian independence movement Hamas launched an attack on Israel on October 7 last year, killing more than 1,200 people. Since that attack, the Israeli offensive on Gaza has continued, killing 46,000 Palestinians and wounding more than 110,000.
