Malaysia has extended the period of the 'Immigrant Repatriation Program' designed to return illegal immigrants to their countries. Under this program, those who registered online by December 31, 2023 but could not appear at the immigration office have been extended until March 21.
A notice from the Malaysian Immigration Department stated that those who entered Malaysia without valid documents or whose visa expired a short time ago can voluntarily return home by paying the prescribed fine.
To participate in the program, they must register online and appear at the immigration office with flight tickets, valid travel documents or travel permits obtained from the embassy. From there, they must leave the country within 14 days.
In addition, it has been reported that no agent has been appointed to pay the fine. The fine must be paid only in electronic payment mode.
However, the Immigration Department has clarified that those who are detained or serving sentences will not be able to participate in this program.
