Israel has asked citizens to refrain from any kind of celebration after the release of Israeli prisoners in Palestinians as part of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. The Israeli prison authorities have reported this information. Arab News reports.
In a statement, it said that they are preparing to release prisoners in exchange for Israeli hostages held in Gaza. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office said that the prisoner exchange could begin from Sunday.
The country's prison department said that preparations have begun by gathering prisoners for release from one prison near Jerusalem and another near the southern city of Ashkelon.
The statement said that Red Cross civilian buses will not be operated to escort them from Shikma prison to prevent public celebrations in Ashkelon and other parts of Israel. The order was issued by Israel Prison Service Commissioner Maj. Gen. Kobi Jacobi.
Prison Service Commissioner Jacobi has urged prisoners scheduled for release to refrain from celebrating inside Israel.
In a statement on Friday, far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gavir called on his political allies to reject the ceasefire deal, saying, “Palestinians sentenced to life in prison for killing Israelis will also be released. I call on our Likud and religious Zionist friends, it is not too late, this deal can still be closed.”
According to mediators and officials on both sides, only 33 hostages will be released in exchange for more than 700 Palestinian prisoners in the first 42 days of the ceasefire.
