Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made it clear that Canada never intends to become the 51st state of the United States. He made this known in an interview with former White House press secretary Jen Psaki on MMNBC's 'Inside' show on Sunday.

Trudeau said, "I know Donald Trump is a successful negotiator and likes to keep people off balance. But Canada will not be the 51st state of the United States. It will never happen."

Former US President Donald Trump recently sparked controversy by commenting on making Canada a US state. At a press conference at Mar-a-Lago, Florida, he pointed to Trudeau and said, "Take away the artificial border line and see how it goes. It would be good for national security."

Trump also said, "It would be a great move if Canada and the United States came together." He also jokingly called Trudeau "Governor Trudeau."

Trudeau, ignoring these comments, said that Canadians never wanted such a merger. He also noted that the united will of the countrymen to maintain Canada's independence and identity is unwavering.

Meanwhile, Trudeau has expressed his desire to resign due to declining popularity. He said that he will step down from his position after the new leader of the Liberal Party is elected next March.
