Will do everything to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons: Netanyahu

Tensions between Israel and Iran have reached a new high, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to do his utmost to stop Iran's nuclear program.
In an interview with Israeli broadcasters, Netanyahu said he was ready to do everything to ensure that Iran does not develop nuclear weapons. He indicated that all diplomatic, economic and military means could be used to achieve this goal.
Israel has long seen Iran's nuclear program in the Middle East as a major threat to its national security. Israel claims that organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah are operating against it with Iranian support. Iran has also launched missile attacks on Israel in recent years.
Israel has attacked several Iranian military facilities as part of a military operation that ended in October.
Iran has always denied accusations of developing nuclear weapons and claimed that its program is for peaceful purposes. Ayatollah Khamenei has issued a fatwa that nuclear weapons are forbidden. However, Western countries are suspicious of Iran's activities and have imposed strict surveillance on them.
Tehran is currently negotiating a nuclear deal with European countries. How these negotiations progress will determine the level of tension between Iran and Israel in the future. However, Netanyahu's statement suggests that Israel is taking a hard line on the issue.
Such a conflict could have profound implications not only for the Middle East, but also for global security.
