Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi officially entered electoral politics by filing nominations for the Wanara Lok Sabha by-election in Kerala, India.

Voting will be held in that seat on November 13. Wanad constituency was earlier held by Priyanka's brother Rahul Gandhi. Rahul won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from there.

It is reported that Priyanka submitted her nomination papers to the Wanad Collectorate in the presence of Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and All India Congress Committee General Secretary KC Venugopal.

He addressed a large public meeting in Kalpetta before filing nominations. There he highlighted his 35 years of political experience. He said his political career began in 1989 by campaigning for late father Rajiv Gandhi.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi also urged voters to support his sister. Priyanka's husband Robert Vadra and their one child were also seen in the open-top car during a road-show.
