Chinese social media platform TikTok has violated the privacy of teenagers. For this reason, the US Department of Justice filed a case against the United States on Friday (August 2).
Quoting the US government, the Indian media NDTV said in a report that the Chinese social media platform TikTok has gained a lot of popularity in the world. However, the United States filed a case against it. The country claims that TikTok is illegally collecting US data. This increases the risk of Americans.
The United States claims that TikTok is violating the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Services that require parental consent to collect personal information from child users under the age of 13.
The United States has sought a $51,744 fine from TikTok for violating the personal data of teenagers. However, TikTok has not yet responded to this issue.
Earlier on Tuesday (May 7), China filed a lawsuit against the country challenging a law passed to block Chinese-owned apps in the US. TikTok says banning it would seriously curtail the freedom of speech of its 170 million US users.
However, according to the US administration, it was decided to close the app due to the fear that the secret information of US citizens is going to the Chinese through TikTok.
